CAUSES I SUPPORT
Scroll down to see a list of my causes Visit my Surfin' for Paws-abilities page for detailed information on my current, and previous fundraisers! My first and foremost goal in life is to help people... I was born to assist! As most of you know, my video "From Service Dog to SURFice Dog", went viral, and with it came a an incredible amount of positive energy and exposure. It wasn't expected, but I look at it as a gift, and an opportunity to use my new-found prominence to raise even more awareness for charitable causes. There are thousands and thousands of people who support my efforts, and through them, an incredible family of kind hearted people has been established. Although I'm not able to be a service dog in the traditional sense, I'm very fortunate to still be working with people with disabilities as a SURFice dog. Working with adaptive surfing organizations, and special needs kids is the perfect platform for me to utilize my service dog training, surfing skills, and experience with disabilities. I'm very active in the adaptive surfing community, and often surf tandem with surfers with disabilities, and act as their assistive aid. My mom has an Associates Degree in Assistance Dog Training from the Assistance Dog Instituter, and we work closely with our causes to customize protocols for my SURFice dog work. I'm also blessed to work with animal causes... and some are very near and dear to my heart. This page lists the organizations that I'm an ambassador for, or have some other working relationship with. Please scroll down, and visit their websites and Facebook pages to learn more about the incredible work they do. In addition to the causes I have a direct working relationship with, I've also created a page to help raise awareness for other causes including human causes, animal causes, animal welfare organizations and rescues. Please visit my raising awareness page for more info. I also created a Facebook page for rescues. Although I don't do rescue myself, I'm hoping this page can be a resource to those that do. I hope this small gesture makes a BIG difference! I also support other causes from time to time by posting information on my Facebook page to help raise awareness, and promote their events. Or, I may get involved in a one time event, such as a walk-a-thon, or other activity. I've held several Facebook campaigns and donated thousands of dollars to rescues & other causes. I support my causes by raising awareness, raising funds, finding donors, and much more. I've raised almost $150,000, and continue to raise more. One of my sponsors, the Rose Foundation also awarded a three year grant to my first fundraising beneficiary, Patrick Ivison so he could get the therapy he needs. It costs about $30,000 a year for his specialized therapy. I'm very grateful to the Rose Foundation for making it possible for him to continue this much needed therapy. Click here for more specific details on my fundraising and donors. Thank you for your help in supporting my causes!

Surfers Healing was founded by Israel and Danielle Paskowitz.
Their son, Isaiah, was diagnosed with autism at age three. Like many
autistic children, he often suffered from sensory overload-- simple
sensations could overwhelm him. The ocean was the one place where he seemed
to find respite.
The Surfers For Autism
mission is to unlock the potential of people with developmental
disabilities, support advocacy for autism issues and scientific research.
Our focus is to eliminate stigma through public awareness and education and
to unite communities through volunteerism.
To surfers around the world, surfing brings peace of mind, a connection to the ocean, a oneness with nature. To legendary watermen Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama, surfing recently has brought a new meaning to their lives. When the duo learned that surfing led to a treatment for cystic fibrosis (CF), they joined and soon became leaders within the surfing community to help raise funds for the disease that robs children and young adults of their youth, their health and eventually their lives before most of them reach their late 30s. In 2008, Laird and Dave enthusiastically became honorary chairmen of a very special fundraiser - "Pipeline to a Cure."
AccesSurf empowers people with disabilities by providing adaptive surfing instruction and therapeutic educational programs on water recreation and enriches lives by assisting families to access the beach and ocean in a barrier free environment.
The Adaptive Surfing Foundation is in the process of
getting their 501(c)3 status. Their goal is empower surfers to reach
their full potential. They make surfing accessible to everyone,
including individuals with debilitating injuries or disabilities.
Target saved the lives of many soldiers in Afghanistan when a suicide bomber walked into a Border Patrol compound. Target, along with two other stray dogs, attacked the bomber. Despite the bombing... she survived. SGT Terry Young adopted Target, and brought her back to live with him in Arizona. One Friday afternoon, Target got out of the yard, and ended up in a shelter. Tragically, by Monday morning, she was erroneously euthanized. Target's Bunker has been formed with the hope of keeping another tragedy like Target's from happening ever again.
The Arthritis Foundation offers information and tools to help people live a better life with arthritis. The foundation helps people take control of arthritis by providing public health education; pursuing public policy and legislation; and encouraging exercise to improve the quality of life for those 700,000 people in San Diego living with arthritis. "Most people do not know that children represent over 350,000 cases of arthritis in the United States. For our local kids, having Ricochet as part of our “team” really helps them to understand that they should not be limited by their disease! We love having Ricochet help to put them at ease…plus….Dogs get arthritis too!" Andrea Muir, Arthritis Foundation

Pets for Vets is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing a second chance to shelter pets by rescuing, training and pairing them with America's veterans who can benefit from a companion animal. Veterans in the southern California area, who have a condition that could benefit from a trained companion animal and who are able to care for a pet, are eligible to receive a Pets for Vets companion animal. Pets for Vets is planning to expand to other areas in the future. Each veteran is interviewed to develop a profile of the ideal companion animal. Once the perfect pet is selected, the animal lives for a time in the home of a trainer, learning basic obedience and other valuable behaviors. This may include becoming comfortable with a wheel chair or learning to assist the veteran with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) or TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). Pets are healthy and up to date on all vaccinations. Pets for Vets provides all necessary training and equipment for starting a new life together at no cost to the veteran. Donations help to ensure that they have everything they need and can change the lives of veterans and shelter pets.
"Ricochet embodies what Pay It Forward Day is all about. She has done some wonderful good deeds and has made a real difference in the lives of many. I think we can all learn some powerful lessons from this amazing dog who has a heart of gold. It is great having Ricochet as an official ambassador of International Pay It Forward Day as she truly helps inspire the world - one good deed at a time." Blake Beattie, Pay It Forward Day Founder.
I often
hold reFUR a FURiend campaigns on my
Facebook page
to help rescues, shelters & other causes. When I get about $1000 in my
causes fund from donations or merchandise sales, I hold a campaign where
causes reFUR their FURiends to LIKE my Facebook page, and each one is worth
$1.00. Any non profit organization that helps people or animals can
participate. If they reFUR 70 FURiends, they will receive a $70
donation. The campaigns are win-win for everyone involved, and even
the small causes can receive a donation. It's also an excellent way to
raise awareness because their links appear on my website, and Facebook page.
