CANINE ASSISTED AQUA FREEDOM

Picture
Science has already proven that therapy dogs play an integral role in the improvement of physical, social, emotional and cognitive function of people. And immersing oneself in warm water is one of the oldest forms of alternative therapy. We have also witnessed first-hand, the healing power of dogs, and the healing power of the ocean through the work that Ricochet has been doing since 2009.

So, we wondered what would happen if we put a therapy dog in the water with a person who is looking to heal some facet of their being. That therapy dog is Ricochet. She has already proven herself as a master healer. When we combine Ricochet, a warm water pool and an individual, the result is a more powerful physical, emotional and spiritual renewal and sense of well-being and freedom.

Each private, one-on-one session in our warm water pool with Ricochet is custom-designed for each individual. The sessions are 30 minutes long and held outdoors in a quiet Zen-inspired sanctuary with bamboo, foliage, stones, shade sails, splashes of color, birds chirping, hummingbirds buzzing, changing cabana, and many more relaxation elements. Essential oils, incense and calm music can be added if desired.

The pool is heated to 92 degrees to help soothe the senses while engaging the mind, body and spirit. Sessions can be as simple as floating on a raft with Ricochet, holding her close to your body, or whatever organically transpires as the human-animal bond is deepened. The warm water holds divine vibrations, healing energy and unconditional love that only a dog can provide.

Individuals experience freedom from pain, stress and leave with a renewed sense of energy. We have found this therapy to be beneficial for everyone, but especially those with PTSD... especially with Ricochet's seven years experience working with service members and veterans.

Military sexual trauma (MST)

According to the VA, About 1 in 4 women and 1 in 100 men report that they experienced MST. MST is psychological trauma that results from a physical assault or battery of a sexual nature, or sexual harassment. PTSD and depression are commonly associated with MST.

In order to offer the safest experience for those who feel vulnerable after being traumatized, it’s critically important to provide privacy. We offer a safe haven and healing sanctuary for the heroes that serve our country.

Swimming allows the body to become immersed and surrounded by hydrostatic pressure as well as the forces of gravity, to enable the body to feel enclosed and less removed from stability. The feeling of the water around the body can provide the feeling of serenity and calm to allow the body some relaxation time, whether the individual is swimming or just moving their body in the water.

If you would like to schedule a canine-assisted aqua freedom session with Ricochet, please send us an email.
