AND RINA TOO

Rina's body left this earth on Memorial Day, 2016. She was 13 years old. If you'd like to read about it, the signs she sent from the afterlife, and reincarnation, click here.

Ricochet's sister, Rina (from another mother) was a golden/lab mix.  SHE LOVED SHOES! She was also a service dog.  And, she was the wind beneath Ricochet's wings! She was wise, happy, accommodating, and always has a pawesome smile! She was mostly in the background, supporting Ricochet and her work. If Ricochet had a fundraiser, Rina usually donated! If Ricochet had to go to an event, she understood that Ricochet was working, and never complained that she couldn't go.

This photo was taken by the pawesome Seth from Little Friends Photo.

and Rina too
Not only was Rina a service dog, but she was a goal directed therapy dog with Pawsitive Teams.. She was also a registered therapy dog with Therapy Dogs Incorporated.  She enjoyed hiking on trails, rolling in smelly stuff, and stealing shoes, and the remote control!  She often won pet costume contests because she was so tolerant of elaborate costumes!! She was with us until she was 13 years old. She tried surfing once, but hated it. And, when she came to Ricochet's surf practices, she cried at the shore... she didn't really like when Ricochet surfed. We're not sure why, maybe she thought Ricochet was going to drown.  Sometimes she tried to swim out to Ricochet, or grab her when she surf in!  But, that was her spirit, always concerned for others in a motherly, caring kind of way.  So, rather than stress Rina out, we didn't bring her with to Ricochet's contests and adaptive surfing events. She was much happier staying home, getting spoiled by our FURiends who watch her, and indulging in kongs & the other smorgasbord of treats left for her.
One time, when Rina was at the beach while Ricochet was practicing, she stayed at the shore.  And, she was crying.  Ricochet was surfing a wave in, and it kind of petered out.  So, Ricochet was just standing on my board in the water, waiting for her handler to get to her.  But, Rina thought Ricochet was in distress, so she swam out to her... which she never even liked being in waves.  When Ricochet saw her swimming out to her, she got worried for her, and she jumped off her board and started swimming toward Rina. They were trying to rescue each other!!

One of Rina's favorite things to do was carry packages up the driveway that the UPS driver or mail carrier dropped off.  Here's a video of Rina retrieving a special delivery package mailed especially for her from our Aunt Laureen.  Rina was notorious for stealing shoes!
