SNUGGIE PUP!

Blanket & Towel Drive for Helen Woodward Animal Center

On, January 3rd, I was invited to "speak" at Mt. Helix Academy in La Mesa, California for their Roots & Shoots program. The Roots & Shoots program is part of the Jane Goodall Institute, and is about making positive change happen—for our communities, for animals and for the environment. With tens of thousands of young people in almost 100 countries, the Roots & Shoots network connects youth of all ages who share a desire to create a better world. Young people identify problems in their communities and take action.

I started off by showing my SURFice dog video, and then "spoke" about my Surfin' Santa Paws Toy drive for kids & kritters that I just finished. The kids wanted to help with the toy drive, but my beneficiary Helen Woodward Animal Center said they had toys to last them a year! But, they could really use blankets and towels. So, we brainstormed, and the kids came up with a name for their blanket and towel drive... Snuggie Pup!!

For the month of January, they took donations of new, or lightly used blankets and towels for the dogs and cats at Helen Woodward.  Then, on February 5th, they took a field trip, with me to deliver the blankets and towels to the animals!!  They also celebrated by birthday... it was so fun!

My supporters also donated $155, and I went shopping to buy new blankets for the animals.

Lakes Area Humane Society in Alexandria, Minnesota - as part of the Snuggie Pup fundraiser. 
Each of the kids had $15 to donate - so $45!  Go kids!!!
