PAWING IT FORWARD FOR RUDY,

Rainbow Bridge Ambassador of Love!

 

I was deeply saddened to hear my FURiend Rudy Rudalicous San Diego County Ambassador of Love crossed the Rainbow Bridge on September 20, 2011.  He was one of the happiest, lovable doggies around (I had a crush on him!), and he will be greatly missed by many. 

Another FURiend, Katy Reilly Myers had the most pawmazing idea to honor Rudy. I was so touched, I immediately wanted to help facilitate it! So, together, with Katy, and Rudy's FURiends, we're pawing it forward for Rudy.  He was a rescue from Rancho Coastal Humane Society, and Katy thought it would be grrreat to rally Rudy's FURiends together to make donations on behalf of Rudy to purchase a memorial brick that will be engraved with a tribute, and permanently placed on the RCHS Military Working Dog Memorial, located in Cricket's Corner Dog Park. Rudy used to play there.

Each brick costs $150. The first one will be designated as a gift to Rudy's mom Laura & his brother, Marley so they can express their love, and heartfelt message on their own personalized memorial brick.

The other will be from Rudy's FURiends... any, and all of Rudy FURiends are invited to contribute... whether you're human, K9, a bird, a cat, or any other animal. We'll honor Rudy with our brick, and give comfort to Laura & Marley.  Laura will have a permanent tribute at the place where it all started... the place where Laura fell in love with Rudy... the place where Rudy fell in love with Laura.

Any remaining funds will go to Rancho Coastal Humane Society to help the animals in Rudy's name.

UPDATE: After my mom & Katy talked to Rudy's mom, Laura about "pawing it forward for Rudy", it was decided that donations from this campaign will also go toward the adoption fees for a new rescue they'll be adding to their family when they're ready... or a pup catches Laura's eye like Rudy did.  Laura was so touched by this "pawing it forward for Rudy" campaign, that's she's started thinking of meaningful names for a new pooch!

Laura says "I LOVE being able to share my love for Rudy in this way. And I'll love being able to see another brick from Rudy's FURiends near it, each time we go to the dog park. A lasting memory indeed."

If you already made a donation directly to RCHS, and would like it to be directed to our "paying it forward for Rudy" fundraiser, just email me at pawinspired at aol dot com, and include your name, and the amount donated so we can add your name & your amount to the running total here. Then, we'll give a complete list to RCHS of all the brick donors.

Any amount helps... even a buck!! 80% of the $150 goes directly to the animals. The other 20% (30.00) goes to pay for the bricks & the engraving.  Thank you so much for helping honor Rudy this way.
