CANINE CANCER INITIATIVE
SNOCO'S
RAGING AGAINST K-9 CANCER TIP JAR
My FURiend Snoco is helping me in my fight against canine
cancer! He created a tip jar for his FURiends to donate to. 100% of the
funds raised (less Pay Pal fees) will go to
Morris Animal Foundation Canine Cancer Campaign. I'm the Grand Marshall
for the San Diego Walk on February 18 (see below), and I'm very grateful to
Snoco for his help! Thank you for supporting
Snoco's tip
jar, by donating, and helping to fight this horrible disease that affects so
many of our lives. One in 4 dogs die of cancer, and many others will
get very, very sick from the effects. Sadly, an estimated 50 percent
of all dogs will die of this disease... together we can make a difference.
To donate to Snoco's TIP JAR, click the donate button below. Thanks so
much for your support!
Your donation is tax deductible because it goes through my alma mater,
Puppy Prodigies, a 501(c)3 non profit organization. 100% of your
donation (less nominal pay pal fees) goes directly to the Morris Animal
Foundation.

DIEGO CANINE CANCER WALK FOR MORRIS ANIMAL FOUNDATION
I'm the Grand Marshall for the San Diego

started taking donations. We see too many of our doggie FURiends
succumb to cancer, and I want to fight it. One in 4 dogs die of
cancer, and many others will get it. Please join me in this fight
by making a donation by clicking the donate button below. If you'd
like to honor a pet that has been affected with cancer, please include
the tribute in the comments section of the Pay Pal form.
Thanks so much! |

SURFIN' TO
CHASE AWAY K9 CANCER
On
September 19, 2010, I was a charity partner with the
Surf City Surf Dog
surf contest, and my beneficiary was
Chase Away K9
Cancer.
I surfed the event in
memory of Chase, and all my other friends who lost their battle to cancer.
Most importantly, I raised awareness and funds for canine cancer.
The
American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Foundation’s
Chase Away K9
Cancer works to provide new hope and promise for many, now and in
the future. You too can join the fight to
Chase Away K9 Cancer and help provide longer and healthier lives for all
animals!
Thank you for helping all us dogs live happy and healthy
lives with our families! If all my friends and followers donated
just one dollar... we could raise thousands to fight this dreadful disease!
Be sure to visit the
Chase Away K9
Cancer website for pictures, videos, resources and more.

MORRIS
ANIMAL FOUNDATION CANINE CANCER WALK, APRIL 2010
Thank you to my amazing donors, I raised $1820 in
donations for the K9 Cancer Walk in April of 2010! I was the top fundraiser for
this event! Click here to
see a list of donors.
In April of 2010, I injured my wrist while chasing birds on the
beach... I ran across a reef, lost my footing, and took the impact on my
wrist, leaving a big gouge. I required 5 stitches, and two weeks of
bed rest. After the two weeks, my stitches came out, but I wasn't
healed. So, I had surgery to debride the wound, and ended up with
another 12 stitches... plus bed rest for another two weeks! I was
pretty bummed about it, but quickly realized my injury is nothing compared
to all the dogs, and their families that are dealing with cancer. So,
rather than focus on what I couldn't do for the following two weeks of
recovery... I
realized I can be helpful even on bed rest!
Despite my activity restrictions while I was recovering
from my injury, I VIRTUALLY walked in the 2nd annual K9 Cancer Walk
benefiting the Morris Animal Foundation's Canine Cancer Campaign. I
raised a total of $1820, and was the top dog fundraiser on my team... the
dog who raised the most money. The entire walk generated 54,778.

TRIBUTES
DOGS WHO ARE DEALING WITH CANCER

Jackie Art: Brooks, a young, goofy
golden guy who's battling cancer in his mouth and lymph nodes.

My name is Stephanie, and my mother, Peggy, and
I have a dog recently diagnosed with cancer. Our Rottweiler mix, Molly, had
her toe amputated due to a tumor. Biopsies show that it is Malignant
Melanoma. We have done much research only to find that there's not much we
can do but wait & see. We are hoping the toe was amputated soon enough that
little was able to get to the rest of her body. Chances are the cancer will
show up in another part of her body, but we won't know when, it could be 6
months from now, a year or two. Our vet contacted the University of Penn to
inquire about a "vaccine" that they are giving to animals with this kind of
cancer but they said there had been no studies on anything other than the
mouth and they had no idea if it would work. In order for them to even try
it, they required an unbelievable amount of testing before & after
(essentially a clinical study on her that we would be required to pay for).
The cost was shocking to say the least. Most other clinical studies out
there are for different kinds of cancers, not the kind she has. So now we
just enjoy what time we have left & love her as best we can. We adopted her
from a shelter and although we saved her, she has paid us back a million
times over by bringing so much joy to our lives. The photos attached are
just after her amputation
DOGS WHO LOST THEIR BATTLE TO CANCER

Ricochet & Rina: In memory of Sammy and Bear

Caitee, Tallulah and Liberty remember their
dearest "chelsea" who lost her life to canine cancer.

Chloe Netro: Mr. Magoo, who recently died.
He had cancer and passed away following his surgery to remove a large
tumor. He was such a sweetheart, in spite of his many problems.

Elizabeth Behrman: Yisraelit,
who died of cancer last September

Lori, Bob & Enzo Pryt: In loving memory of 'Murphy'
Johnson-Gates.

Jamie Livingston: I made a donation in the
memory of a dog named Bayley. I never met Bayley, nor his owners
(Rebecca and Mac Cummings)...just happen to run accross their blog one day.
I saw his picture and was hooked to his story. He
lost his battle with cancer and it broke my heart. Attached is his picture.
On their blog, this is what is written on the right hand side of their page.
"Our amazing 6 year old dog, Bayley, was
diagnosed with lymphoma cancer on January 25, 2008 and lost his battle on
July 20, 2008...just one week after our new puppy was born. It was as if Bay
simply knew he had to wait until he was sure that more joy would be brought
into our home. Bayley was the most gentle, loving, selfless dog (or human
for that matter) that you had ever met. Our brave little man endured 6
months of chemotherapy and tried to fight the nasty evil, but unfortunately
for us all, he was taken too soon. We find comfort in knowing that he's in
heaven running free without pain, swimming in the oceans, and eating endless
treats. Dog owner's might have an easier time understanding how this has
affected our lives. These loyal and loving animals have the uncanny ability
to make life meaningful and 100% more fulfilled. It's crazy how the love
from a dog can touch your heart in a way that no human can"

Patti Shanaberg:
Samantha (Sami) who was a Delta Society Pet Partners Therapy
Dog and Reading Education Assistance Dog who died of Cancer on February 4th
2010.

Natalie Voss: In memory of Hatcher, who
crossed the rainbow bridge the day after Thanksgiving almost two years ago.
He was the most gentle dog with the best heart and our hearts were broken
when he died.
Cady & Rory: In memory of their friends, Sammy and Bear, who
lost their battle with cancer last year. They hope a cure is found
soon.
Sandra OBrien: In honor of Hoss, a wonderful
Leonberger who lost his battle with cancer a little while back
Sheri
Souza-Adams: In the memory of my in heaven dogs, Shamrock (Irish
Setter) Toby (Nor,Elkhound) and Freeway ( GS) who all went to heaven because
of Doggy cancer, Til we all meet again..take care of my Golden Babies gang.
Barbara
Krause: My best furry friend, Kala, a black lab, died 4 years ago from
pancreatic cancer.
August
23 Pupdate: My friend Cori crossed the rainbow bridge today & I'm very
sad. She had insulinoma since 2008, but put up the most courageous fight.
She had a hard time walking toward the end, but still enjoyed swimming. She
was a therapy dog, and also helped her mom through several surgeries.
If you'd like to make a donation in Cori's name, please click the donate
button below, and mention Cori's name in the comments section when making
the donation.
If you want to commemorate your own dog, or a dog you
know, please send me an email...

along with a picture and I'll post it below. Thank you!

Wendy & Caitlin Reich: In memory of their sweet golden, Lexy
who they recently lost to cancer. She was a 12 year old golden and the
center of their family. They miss her terribly and would love to see
K9 cancer eradicated!

Doug and Rebecca Adkins:
Walker, our 9 ˝ year old golden boy. He has been through 3
surgeries since December to remove mast cell tumors and is starting chemo
this week. His second surgery picture shows just a few of his incisions. He
went through 4 hours of surgery to remove 7 tumors from different areas on
his body. We called him “Frankendawg” during his recovery. The picture after
his third surgery is him sporting a tee-shirt to cover his bandages.
UPDATE: He fought a good fight, he finished his race.
He passed 6-6-10, one month short of his 10th birthday. He is
missed by all.

Andrea Lewis: In Memory of our dog,
Chewie. He passed last Feb. 14th from cancer and
