Arthritis is a serious and debilitating disease that affects both humans and dogs. You may have arthritis yourself, or I bet you know a person or dog who is suffering with the pain and degeneration of arthritis. One in 5 adults, and over 300,000 children suffer with arthritis pain every day. Arthritis is one of the most common health problems a dog will face. In fact at least 1 in 5 dogs will develop this debilitating disease. Not good statistics. My mom has had rheumatoid arthritis since she was 16 years old. She's been in pain every day since then. She has pretty bad degeneration, and a bunch of other auto-immune problems, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, and blah, blah, blah. Despite her pain, intense fatigue and limitations, she is committed to helping me on my journey of raising funds/awareness for charitable causes. Mom isn't able to do much these days, but as I've taught her... she focuses on what she CAN do. I'd like to inspire others who are suffering with pain, fatigue, and all the other issues associated with arthritis to focus on what they CAN do too! I am also campaigning to raise awareness for this debilitating disease for both humans and canines! So, when my friends at Leash Your Fitness told me they were participating in an Arthritis Walk, I knew I wanted to get involved! I walked the "Let's Walk Together" event in honor of my mom, as well as other people/dogs who have arthritis. By joining the Arthritis Walk, I became part of "Let's Move Together" that encourages people to move daily for better health and to prevent or treat arthritis. Leash Your Fitness supported the Arthritis Foundation walk by holding a six week free training class for those who register for their team. Maybe one day my mom, your loved one, your dog, or family member can live without pain and degeneration! Thank you for your support!
